Since there was no accessible manual available for this product Accessible Devices is providing the following information.
The thermometer is approximately five and one half inches long, by about one and a half inches wide and one half inch thick. The body is slightly curved.Near the top there's a screen that takes up about one third of the body of the thermometer. Directly below are three buttons (These are mounted nearly flush with the body and while they can be felt they aren't easy to identify). From left to right they are the Mode button (Surface, Body or Room). The center button switches between Fahrenheit or Centigrade and the right button is the Memory button.
Directly below these there's a button about the size of a quarter which is slightly indented. This is the read button and causes the thermometer to take the temperature of what it's pointed at and report it. Although the Mode button doesn't speak the Mode it's in is reported when the temperature is spoken.
On the right side of the thermometer (about even with the bottom of the screen) is a button with four functions. Pressing it will switch between English, French, or Spanish. , the name of each is spoken. The fourth position does not speak and that's off.
The unit is powered by two triple A batteries. The battery door is located on the back, or bottom, on the end opposite to the screen.
Place the unit, with the end with the square hole in it and the screen facing down against your body. the end away from your body is rounded and contains a slot about a quarter inch wide in the center of it. Place a finger nail in that slot and press toward you while lifting gently up at the same time. The Battery door should lift off.
